Abstract: This project took place at the Azienda energetica municipale (local electric utility) in Turin and its goal was to foresee measures aimed at enhancing an equal opportunities policy between male and female employees with
young kids. From the research phase it emerged that maternity is perceived as an obstacle to their career by female employees, a moment in which the weakness of their working position becomes clear. Ghis is the reason why this project tried to design
ground rules for a better subdivision of family and work responsibilities between men and women. The working methodology was based on qualitative and quantitative instruments: an assessment of the bumber of employees's children's births from 1981 to
1996; small-group meetings with employees with small children; sensitising human resources management on these issues; sensitising local community; in depth interviews for the project design. Even if the project is not yet concluded, we think at this
